Paul O'Shea has departed The Moving Picture Co. to become Asylum's newest vfx supervisor.

After having met Asylum Co-Founder/Creative Director Nathan McGuinness, O'Shea was persuaded to join the team. "Nathan's vision for the future of Asylum, the quality of visual effects, and the opportunity to work with the amazing talent here was a deciding factor for me. This, coupled with the chance to bring my daughter up by the beach, convinced me to swap Soho for Santa Monica," said O'Shea.

Exec Producer Mike Pardee added, "Paul is an incredibly talented artist in his own right. He has the experience, drive and skill-set that matches our goal of keeping the Asylum brand at the top of the VFX and design community."

O'Shea spent seven years working for MPC. He has collaborated with directors such as Tim Burton, Michel Gondry, Fredrick Bond, Malcolm Venville, Jonathan Glazer, Jake Scott, Mark Mylod, Steve Barron, Mel Smith, Traktor, Nacho Gayan, and Steve Rogers. Before joining MPC, O'Shea worked for Discreet Logic, where he traveled the globe demonstrating and teaching Flame. He holds a degree in fine arts and also spent four years with the BBC.

Asylum is a premier visual effects and design company, handling high-profile features, commercials, music videos and emerging media content for web and mobile platforms. Asylum created the visual effects for such recent films as PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END and APOCALYPTO.
