Paranormal Activity 2 Strongest Horror Opening

Paramount's PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 marked the highest grossing horror film opening on the weekend of Oct. 22-24, 2010. Besting FRIDAY THE 13TH's $40.6 million opening, this haunting sequel earned $41.5 million.

Paramount's JACKASS 3-D crashed into second with another $21.6 million. The crazy stunt flick has a cume of $87.1 million.

Summit's RED shot up $15 million in third. With vfx from CIS Vancouver, the aging assassin flick has secured $43.5 million thus far.

Warner Bros.' HEREAFTER expanded to 2,181 screens and earned $12 million in fourth. With vfx from Scanline, the Clint Eastwood afterlife tale has a two-week cume of $12.3 million.

Sony's THE SOCIAL NETWORK poked another $7.3 million in fifth. With vfx from Lola Visual Effects, the Facebook flick has garnered $72.9 million.

In sixth, Buena Vista's SECRETARIAT crowned another $6.92 million. With vfx from Pixel Magic, the feel-good race racing film has collected $37.4 million.

Warner Bros.' LIFE AS WE KNOW IT brought in an additional $6.15 million, lifting its cume to $37.6 million.

Warner Bros.' LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOLE landed in eighth with $3.18 million. With animation from Animal Logic, the owl adventure has rounded up $50.2 million.

Warner Bros.' THE TOWN stole another $2.72 million, bringing its cume to $84.7 million.

Screen Gem's EASY A closed out the top ten with $1.75 million. The teen comedy has a cume of $54.8 million.
