The Los Angeles Professional Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH presents Real Time Performance Animation. Producers, artists, technical directors and digital puppeteers from Jim Henson's Creature Shop will demonstrate the new technology and share their experiences. The technology allows up to four CG characters to be controlled/directed in realtime producing actions as a real actor would and the same time be composited on to a background in realtime, which can be a completely realtime renderered 3D environment.
A social hour will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by the event at 7:30 pm. The discussion will take place at the Digital Cinema Laboratory at the Entertainment Technology Center in the Pacific Hollywood Theater (6433 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, California 90028). The event is free to L.A. ACM SIGGRAPH members and $15 for non-members. New members who sign up on-site and pay the $35 annual membership fee (checks or cash only) do not have to pay the $15 fee.
