Stephen King is in negotiations with Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road and Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment about a feature adaptation of THE DARK TOWER series, reports VARIETY.

The seven-book series follows the last of the gunslingers in an alternative Old West as he travels to a tower that lies at the center of all universes.

Previously the film was in development at J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot.
