JU-ON director Takashi Shimizu will helm a currently untitled horror/thriller centering on a haunted song that drives people to suicide for Phoenix Pictures, reports VARIETY. Producer Taka Ichise and Shimizu came up with the idea and Chris Philpott wrote the screenplay.

Ichise will produce via Ozla Pictures. Phoenix's Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer and Brad Fischer will also produce with Phoenix putting up the coin. Ozla's VP Erin Eggers is the exec producer and Steve Zegans is a co-producer.
