Joe Letteri Promoted to Weta Digital Partner
Senior Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Letteri (THE LORD OF THE RINGS sequels, KING KONG and the upcoming AVATAR) has joined Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and Jamie Selkirk as an equal partner in Wellington, New Zealand-based Weta Digital Ltd.
At Weta Digital since 2001, Letteri is not only being elevated as a result of the bar-raising, Oscar-winning vfx work that he has supervised, but also for playing a key role in attracting new productions to New Zealand, including James Cameron's highly anticipated AVATAR.
Weta Digital Co-Founder Jackson hailed the appointment of a new shareholder as an important milestone for the company. "Over the years Joe has helped establish and grow Weta Digital's international reputation for leading-edge visual effects," he said.
"By joining the ownership team, Joe will now have the opportunity to contribute to the future strategy and growth of the company while continuing in his role as senior visual effects supervisor. I am delighted with this appointment, which recognizes Joe's outstanding leadership and contributions to Weta's success."
Letteri's shareholding with Weta Digital takes effect immediately.
Letteri previously worked at Industrial Light & Magic for 10 years (THE ABYSS and JURASSIC PARK).
