HP7 P1 Still Reigns, Tangled Best Disney Opening Ever

Warner Bros.' HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1 and Disney's TANGLED ruled the Thanksgiving weekend box office, Nov. 26-28, 2010.

With vfx from Baseblack, Cinesite, Double Negative, Framestore, Gradient Effects, Industrial Light & Magic, Mova, The Moving Picture Company, Rising Sun Pictures and The Visual Effects Company, HP7 P1 conjured up $50.3 million, lifting its cume to $220.4 million.

In second, TANGLED lassoed $49.1 million over the weekend and posted a cume of $69 million since its Wednesday debut. This makes the film the highest grossing non-Pixar animated film opening in Disney history. It's the second highest grossing Thanksgiving weekend opening behind only TOY STORY 2.

DreamWorks' MEGAMIND slipped only one spot to third, earning $12.9 million. The superhero spoof has total box office receipts of $130.5 million.

Screen Gems' BURLESQUE danced into fourth with $11.8 million, making its five-day cume $17.2 million.

Fox's UNSTOPPABLE pulled into fifth with $11.8 million. With vfx from Asylum VFX, Eye-Spy Prods. and Hirota Paint Industries, the runaway train flick has a cume of $60.7 million.

Fox's LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS was dealt sixth place, earning $9.85 million over the weekend and $14 million for five days.

CBS Films' FASTER sputtered into seventh with $8.71 million. With vfx from Wildfire Visual Effects, the Rock actioner has a five-day cume of $12.2 million.

Warner Bros.' DUE DATE gave birth to $7.3 million in eighth. With visual effects from Method Studios, the Robert Downey Jr. comedy has a cume of $85 million.

Lionsgate's THE NEXT THREE DAYS escaped with $4.84 million in ninth. With vfx from Asylum VFX, Furious FX and Proof, the prison break flick has a cume of $14.6 million.

Paramount's MORNING GLORY closed out the top ten with $4.03 million, lifting its cume to $26.5 million.
