Hop Returns to the Top Spot at U.S. Box Office

Universal's HOP returned to the top spot at U.S. box office for the weekend of April 8-10, 2011. With vfx from Rhythm & Hues, the Easter Bunny comedy added $21.7 million to its $68.2 million box office basket.

Another Russell Brand film came in second. Warner Bros.' ARTHUR premiered with $12.6 million. Gravity provided visual effects to the comedy remake.

Focus Feature's HANNA shot into third with $12.3 million. The young assassin thriller has vfx from Exozet Effects, Mr. X and Snow Business.

TriStar's SOUL SURFER floated into fourth in its debut weekend, making $11.1 million. Engine Room provided vfx for the true-life story.

FilmDistrict's INSIDIOUS placed fifth, scaring up another $9.74 million. With vfx from Fractured FX, the haunted house horror flick has a cume of $27.1 million.

Universal's YOUR HIGHNESS premiered in sixth, rescuing $9.52 million. The stoner fantasy epic has visual effects from Die Nefzers, Framestore, Hatch Production, Lola Visual Effects, Plowman Craven & Associates and Spectral Motion.

Summit's SOURCE CODE plummeted from second to seventh, earning an additional $9.05 million. With vfx from Modus Fx, Moving Picture Company (MPC), Oblique FX and Rodeo FX, the sci-fi thriller has leapt in with $28.6 million thus far.

Relativity Media's LIMITLESS downed another $5.69 million. With vfx from Comen VFX and LOOK! Effects, the Faustian sci-fi flick has a cume of $64.4 million.

Fox's DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: RODRICK RULES tumbled from fourth to ninth, bringing in $4.89 million. The kid-friendly comedy has earned $45.5 million to date.

Lionsgate's THE LINCOLN LAWYER closed out the top ten with $4.6 million. With vfx from Celluloid VFX and Furious FX, moviegoers have awarded the law thriller $46.5 million thus far.
