Press release from Gnomon Workshop:

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The Gnomon Workshop welcomes environment artist David Lesperance as the latest instructor to its ever-growing training library for artists in entertainment and design. Titled Environment Sculpting, the lecture provides an in-depth look at the workflow behind hit titles such as Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Tony Hawk: Ride and the highly anticipated Halo 4.

Environment Sculpting covers a wide range of topics within the environment design process, beginning with basic concepts of asset building (kit bashing, grid space modeling, etc.) using the DynaMesh tool in ZBrush. The tutorial also covers mapping techniques, lighting and rendering and a few day-to-day tips and tricks that David has learned over his career. Software programs used during instruction include: Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk 3ds Max and ZBrush.

"In my experience of almost 10 years in this industry, I don't think I've met anyone with more passion to grow as an artist, become better, and find smarter and faster ways of working than David Lesperance," said Jeramiah Johnson, senior cinematic artist at Blizzard Entertainment. "He is an exceptional artist and encourages those he works with to be exceptional as well."

David Lesperance is an environment artist who has worked in the CG entertainment field for almost eight years. He has a degree in fine arts and is active in the CG community. David is currently working with Microsoft Studios and the 343 Industries team on the upcoming Halo 4.
