Gnomon Workshop: Live! Set for March 31-April 1

The Gnomon Workshop is presenting its fifth workshop weekend, March 31 and April 1, 10:00-7:00 pm, Sound Stage 15, next door to the Gnomon School of VFX, 1015 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood, 90038.

The lineup includes instructors, featuring speakers in and out of the Gnomon Workshop library. These artists will present on subjects including, illustration, character and concept design, storyboarding, modeling, game production pipeline and character UVs. In addition, you'll also get a chance to meet some highly accomplished artists who will take you inside their own personal projects and processes.

The schedule will include such artists as Brom, Dave Dorman, Stephan Martiniere, Kevin Hudson, Derek Thompson, Christian Alzmann, Jeremy Vickery, Warren Fu, Scott Spencer and Kolby Jukes. These artists have influenced the landscape of concept design, visual effects and game design, with work featured in films such as GHOST RIDER, SPIDER-MAN 3, STAR WARS EPISODES 1-3, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 1-2, WAR OF THE WORLDS, VAN HELSING, THE INCREDIBLES, CARS and RATATOUILLE, and in games such as the CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN franchise, GOLDEN AXE, MYST 5, DOOM 2 and comics for DC, Chaos and Dark Horse.

Once again Gnomon is holding its recruiting room and more information on which studios will be there will be announced soon.

The Cost: $125 (non-refundable after March 28th, 2007). Purchase tickets online and bring a printed copy of your order confirmation and valid driver's license to the event. Please do not select shipping options, as Gnomon will not be issuing a printed ticket.

Gnomon will provide light lunch, refreshments and surprises throughout the day. Seating is extremely limited, so please make sure you register soon.

If you're coming in from out of town, the Roosevelt Hotel will extend the Gnomon rate of about $179 for the event. Call 323.466.7000 and ask for the Gnomon rooms (based on availability).

The Econo Lodge Hollywood is inexpensive and within walking distance. It's right around the corner from Gnomon and they're giving a 10% discount on their already really low-priced rooms: Single rooms are $69/night; double rooms are $79/night. They're at 777 Vine Street, 323.463.5671. Ask for GT or Carol, and tell them you're coming in for Gnomon.

If you want to find other accommodations, look around Santa Monica and Vine Street (or west).
