With only a week to go before the big event, 20th Century Fox has pulled out of Comic-Con, reports THE LOS ANGELES TIMES. The studio had previously announced a star-filled preview of some of its upcoming films for Friday, June 27, 2007, in the main hall of the San Diego Convention Center.

The studio was set to show footage and present actors and/or filmmakers from productions coming in 2007 and 2008 such as: sci-fi actioner JUMPER, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson and Jamie Bell; ALIENS VS. PREDATOR, which opens Dec. 25, 2007; HITMAN, which is based on the classic game franchise; post-apocalyptic actioner BABYLON A.D., which stars Vin Diesel; Fox-Walden's THE DARK IS RISING, based on Susan Cooper's classic sci-fi novel; and CITY OF EMBER, the live-action debut of MONSTER HOUSE director Gil Kenan.

Fox's vp of national publicity Sean Dudas told the TIMES that the studio didn't have material ready and didn't want to attend if they could not "put [their] best foot forward."

Fox will be the only major studio to not be at the event.

David Glanzer, Comic-Con's director of marketing and public relations, commented to the paper that the move was surprising and that they are stilling working out how to fill the coveted Hall H space vacated by Fox.
