The Foundry’s Nuke To Be Used By Walt Disney Animation Studios
Press Release from The Foundry
Walt Disney Animation Studios has licensed Nuke, the Sci-Tech Award-winning compositing technology from leading visual effects software developer, The Foundry, and will utilize it in the production of its feature projects, it was announced today by Bill Collis, CEO, The Foundry. Disney will use The Foundry’s tools to help re-envision the way departments and workflow come together in creating animated films.
“We are excited that Walt Disney Animation Studios has chosen Nuke as its compositing tool of choice,” said Collis. “The boundaries of animation are constantly being pushed and workflows often have to mix the worlds of 2D and 3D in a surprisingly similar way to live-action production. Nuke’s 3D space and open API make it a strong candidate to integrate well and deliver regardless of the end product.”
“Nuke is a powerful and flexible program that has become the industry standard in compositing for films involving complex visual effects, and state-of-the-art computer animation,” said Dan Candela, director of technology for Walt Disney Animation Studios. “It provides the best available foundational toolset for making stereoscopic animated films. We’re thrilled to be able to adopt this advanced toolset.”
For over seven decades, Walt Disney Animation Studios has been the artistic and technical leader in creating a wide variety of animated motion pictures, ranging from breathtaking hand-drawn animation to state-of-the-art computer-animated features. Beginning with its groundbreaking first feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Hollywood’s first full-length animated feature, up through the release of Tangled in November, the Studio has become synonymous with quality entertainment and achieved a record number of milestones.
