With the demise of Quinta Industries, which owned vfx firm Duran Duboi, the assets of the vfx firm have gone up for sale. L.A.-based production firm FilmFunds has purchased the company's California-based 3-D conversion house and has put in a bid to buy the Paris-based vfx arm as well, reports The Hollywood Reporter. This move gives FilmFunds the rights to Duran Duboi U.S.'s patent on 3D LiveFlix. Duran Duboi U.S.'s most recent 3-D conversion job was CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Duran Duboi U.S. president Christian Paris will become VP of FilmFunds.

As part of its deal to buy Duran Duboi, FilmFunds said it would complete all the company's outstanding films, including THE BOY WITH THE CUCKOO-CLOCK HEART, which shut down production earlier in the year when Duran Duboi ran out of cash. Its co-production partner, EuropaCorp, sued them and was awarded their software and hardware in order to finish the animated feature.
