EMO Films has inked a deal to adapt Steve Hillard's novel MIRKWOOD, which casts LORD OF THE RINGS author J.R.R. Tolkien as its lead character, reports Heat Vision. The story follows Tolkien's early career as a codebreaker during WWII.

Emo’s Joel Eisenberg and Timothy Owens are the exec producers.

The Tolkien estate had tried to bar the release of book, but cut a deal with the author later on.
