Director Terry Gilliam and actor Andy Serkis will be honored at the eDIT 9. Filmmaker’s Festival in Frankfurt, Germany, Sept. 24-26. Gilliam enjoys cult-status amongst generations of film-lovers. The writer, director and lead cartoonist shaped the style of the Monty Python group and their time. Films such as BRAZIL and 12 MONKEYS further cemented his reputation as an uncompromising filmmaker of extraordinary visionary power and humor.

Gilliam will be interviewed at the Festival Honors Salon on Sept. 25 at 6:00 pm prior to the exclusive screening of his new feature, TIDELAND.

The first Filmmaker’s Festival Special Achievement Award, for unique individual contribution to filmmaking, will be presented to Serkis for his performances as Gollum in THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and Kong in KING KONG.

All awards, including Ray Harryhausen receiving Festival Honors, as previously reported, will be presented at the Opening Gala of eDIT 9. Filmmaker's Festival on Sept. 24.

AWN and VFXWORLD are special media sponsors and will be sponsoring eDward VII, a young filmmaker’s contest and awards that celebrate the work of talented artists under the age of 30. This year’s theme is “Time Travel.”

eDIT 9. Filmmaker's Festival is presented by the State of Hessen and the Office for Private Broadcasting in Hessen (LPR) in co-operation with the Visual Effects Society (VES). The complete program of eDIT 9.Filmmaker's Festival is online now at www.edit-ves.com.
