Eden FX Helps Chuck Enter the Third Dimension

Eden FX, a Hollywood-based creator of visual effects for feature films, television programs and commercials, has created a number of CG visual effects for a special network television presentation in 3-D for an upcoming episode of NBC's CHUCK.

"Chuck vs. the Third Dimension" will air on Monday, February 2 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on NBC, and viewers will need to wear a pair of 3-D glasses to get the full experience of that special presentation. SoBe (a Pepsi product) is the official sponsor of the 3-D event, and is giving away 150 million 3-D glasses in the U.S. in advance of the 2009 Super Bowl. Nationally, SoBe retailers will be distributing these 3-D glasses to American consumers.

Eden FX created a number of CG visual effects which were designed to enthrall CHUCK viewers wearing these special stereoscopic 3-D glasses. Eden created vfx that include a knife and tranquilizer darts being thrown at the audience, a graphic hand grenade explosion, and the inside look at a tunnel within an air vent, among others.

Dan Curry, vfx supervisor for CHUCK, said, "Eden FX did a great job on this episode. They really understood the 3-D process and made a very valuable contribution to this show."

Added John Gross, Eden's In-House VFX Supervisor, "It's not every day that we get to throw knives and darts at millions of TV viewers sitting in the safety of their living rooms!" In addition to Gross, Eden FX Digital Artists Rick Ramirez, Fred Pienkos and Sean Scott also contributed to the 3-D episode of CHUCK.

From exec producer, Josh Schwartz and exec producer-director McG comes a one-hour, action-comedy series about Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. When Chuck opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. Now, the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at a Buy More Electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must now confront assassins and international terrorists.

With the government's most precious secrets in Chuck's head, Major John Casey of the National Security Agency (Adam Baldwin) assumes the responsibility of protecting him. His partner is the CIA's top agent (and Chuck's first date in years), Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski). They'll try to keep him safe by trading in his pocket protector for a bulletproof vest. Also starring are Joshua Gomez as Morgan Grimes, Chuck's best buddy, and Sarah Lancaster as Chuck's ever-supportive sister, Ellie.

CHUCK is produced by College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
