The summer movie season kicks off this Friday with the highly anticipated release of VAN HELSING, and Ellen Wolfe will have the opening day scoop on how ILM has reimagined Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and a few other scary creatures.

And look for more vfx insights coming in May related to some of the other potential blockbusters, as we turn our focus on movies throughout this month, especially what's happening outside the U.S. For the moment, though, VFXWorld offers an overview of the recently concluded NAB, including an intriguing case study of the ground-breaking digital intermediate work for VAN HELSING, as well as an interview with the beloved master himself, Ray Harryhausen, who was in town last month promoting his great new book, AN ANIMATED LIFE, published by Billboard Books.
