BATMAN BEGINS all right! Comic maven Danny Fingeroth gets to the bottom of Chris Nolan’s reinvented Dark Knight, which opened Wednesday at midnight. He not only discovers how Double Negative, Moving Picture Co. and Rising Sun Pictures provided the latest in state of the art invisible effects but analyzes how BATMAN stacks up against SPIDER-MAN and X-MEN as a mythmaking force. In fact, Danny had such a revealing conversation with Paul Franklin, Double Negative’s vfx supervisor, that we’ve decided to publish it Thursday as a standalone piece.

Meanwhile, this month VFXWORLD turns its focus on education and jobs, and Dariush Derakhshani, co-author of GETTING A JOB IN CG: REAL ADVICE FROM REEL PEOPLE (Sybex Inc.), provides some helpful hints for artists looking to break in or move up.
