Destination Stays #1 at Box Office

Topping Labor Day weekend, THE FINAL DESTINATION (WB/NL, with vfx by Amalgamated Pixels) was #1 again, with audiences, grabbing $12.3M in its second week. DESTINATION was down 55% with a total gross of $47.4M.

At #2, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (Wein, with vfx by Die Nefzers, K.N.B. Effects Group) took in $11.6M – down 39% earning $91.8M to date.

Debuting in the #3 spot, the Sandra Bullock starrer, ALL ABOUT STEVE (Fox, with vfx by Flash Film Works) earned $11.2M out of the gate.

Arriving at #4, Gerald Butler’s GAMER, (LGF, with vfx by Furious FX, Gradient Effects and LOOK! Effects) earned $9.1M in its first week of release.

Falling to #5, DISTRICT 9 (TriStar, with vfx by Image Engine Design) made $7.1M – down only 30% with a total gross of $101.3M.

Slashing the #6 spot, HALLOWEEN II (W/Dim., with vfx by East Coast Filming) earned $5.7M – down 64% with a two week gross of $25.7M.

Sony’s sleeper hit, JULIE & JULIA, fell slightly to #7 (Sony, with vfx by Brainstorm Digital) bringing in $5.3M – down only 24% with a total gross of $78.9M.

Stumbling to #8, G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA (Paramount, with vfx by CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, HPI and Lidar Services) earned $5.1M – down 33%.  G.I. JOE has earned $139.4M thus far.

Landing at #9, the Mike Judge comedy, EXTRACT (Mira, with vfx by Flash Film Works) made only $4.36M.

Rounding-out the Top #10, THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE (WB/NL, with vfx by Rhythm and Hues) earned $4.31M – down 33% with a cume of $54.6M.
