Summit Entertainment and New Regency's horror/sci-fi flick THE DARKEST HOURS was forced to shut down production due to the wildfires spreading across Russia where it is filming, reports VARIETY. Due to the smog, Russian officials issued a public health warning, which spurred the producers to suspend shooting for two weeks. Summit reports that the halt in production will not create conflicts with the actor's schedules.

The alien invasion flick stars Olivia Thirlby and Emile Hirsch. Chris Gorak is the director with Tom Jacobson and Timur Bekmambetov producing.
