Basterds are Glorious at Box Office

In its debut week, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (Wein, with vfx by Die Nefzers, K.N.B. Effects Group) grabbed the #1 spot, taking in $37.M.

Falling to #2, DISTRICT 9 (TriStar, with vfx by Image Engine Design) took in $18.9M – down 49% with a total gross of $73.4M.

Still strong at #3, G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA (Paramount, with vfx by CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, HPI and Lidar Services) earned $12.5M – down 44%. G.I. JOE has earned $120.5M so far.

Down to the #4 spot, THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE (WB/NL, with vfx by Rhythm and Hues) made $10M – down 46% with a cume of $37.4M.

The still popular, JULIE & JULIA, at #5 (Sony, with vfx by Brainstorm Digital) brought in $9M – down only 25% with a total gross of $59.2M.

Landing at #6, SHORTS (WB, with vfx by Hybride Technologies) made $6.6M in its first week.

In the #7 position, G-FORCE (Buena Vista, with vfx by Asylum VFX, Hatch Production and Sony Pictures Imageworks) earned $4.2M -- down 39%. G-FORCE has earned $107.3M to date.

HARRY POTTER & THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE fell to #8 (WB, with vfx by ILM and Double Negative and CEG Media, Cinesite, Foreign Office, Gentle Giant Studios, Kerner Optical, Moving Picture Company, Plowman Craven & Associates, Rising Sun Pictures and The Visual Effects Company) earning $3.5M -- down 31%. HALF-BLOOD PRINCE has made $290.2M since its U.S debut.

Stumbling to #9, THE UGLY TRUTH (Sony, with vfx by Furious FX, Gradient Effects, LOOK! Effects, Luma Pictures and Proof) earned $2.85M -- down 35%. The romantic comedy has earned a total of $82.8M.

Debuting at #10, POST GRAD (Fox, with vfx by Custom Film Effects) earned only $2.8M in its first week.
