ANGER MANAGEMENT director Peter Segal has been attached to helm New Line’s adaptation of the DC comic, SHAZAM!, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Segal also will produce along side Michael Ewing via their Callahan Filmworks.

The story centered on young Billy Batson, who becomes the superhero known as Captain Marvel when he utters the magic word "Shazam! — which is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes — the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Aries, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury.

William Goldman and Bryan Goluboff have served as writers on the long in-the-works project. New Line exec-turned-producer Chris Godscik and Michael Euslan (CONSTANTINE) are exec producing. Mark Kaufman and Daryl Friemark will shepherd for New Line.
