Press Release from Ntropic

San Francisco & Los Angeles, CA - (November 9, 2009) -- Visual effects company Ntropic is excited to announce that Creative Director/VFX Supervisor Simon Mowbray has joined the company. Formerly the co-founder of Radium, Mowbray freelanced at Ntropic on projects for Sprint, Coinstar and Oracle before making it his official home.

"I am excited to bring existing and new clients to Ntropic to experience the great atmosphere and culture here," says Mowbray. "Any project that comes here is handled by an extremely dedicated, senior team dedicated to quality and client service."

Mowbray began his career in 1987 in Sydney, working at several pioneering CG and design studios in the early days of CG and compositing. He moved to Montreal in 1991 to work as a product specialist for Softimage. He then helped start Discreet Logic with four other founders in 1992 and then moved to Western Images in San Francisco where he worked from 1994-1996 as an inferno artist. In 1996 he and Jonathan Keeton started visual effects company Radium, where he served as Vice President, Creative director, designer, inferno and CG artist. In 2007, Mowbray and Keeton sold Radium to Reel FX, and he became freelance after the company closed its San Francisco office. Mowbray and Ntropic founder Nate Robinson have known each other for many years and Ntropic Executive Producer Dana Townsend previously worked together at Radium; their camaraderie was key to Mowbray's decision to join the company.

"Nate and I bounce ideas off of one another and share a passion for the visual effects and digital production," explains Mowbray. "Here, I can focus my attention on the work and have the benefit of an extremely collaborative environment, both in SF and in the Los Angeles office."

"It is an honor to have Simon at Ntropic and exciting to have another lead artist with whom we can collaborate and offer to clients," affirms Ntropic founder Nate Robinson. "Adding someone with the level of experience and artistry opens up new and expanded creative possibilities, and is another voice for Ntropic overall."
