Virtools Exporter for SOFTIMAGE|XSI Unveiled

Virtools, a leading provider of interactive 3D authoring tools, announced a technology alliance with Softimage. Thus, anyone developing interactive content with Virtools for industrial, Web or game development use can now export characters, scenes, objects and animations created with SOFTIMAGE|XSI software directly into the Virtools Dev 3 environment, using the new Virtools exporter (public beta stage) for XSI software.

With the power of these two established 3D solutions now working together, our customers have the capability to produce the richest 3D content, from creation to interaction authoring, for game development, visualization or other interactive applications, said Virgile Delporte, vp sales Americas.

Alan Waxenberg, third party business development manager for Softimage, added, Softimages goal is to supply artists and developers with the easy-to-use tools needed to produce the most compelling 3D content possible. By bringing the power of XSI digital content creation to Virtools comprehensive interactive 3D development platform, artists and developers can now get the best of both worlds.

Virtools and Softimage demonstrated the exporter at the Montreal Game Summit, Nov. 3-4, 2004, as well as during both user group meetings last week.
