Village Prods. has formed a new company to handle its business in China called Village Prods. (China) Ltd. (VPCL and opened offices in Beijing and Shanghai earlier this month.
Village Prods. head Mark Rowland said, This is an important step for us. It re-enforces and supports our intention to build on the business we have already begun to build in China. We are working on three fronts -- co-production, distribution into China and re-versioning of Chinese series for the international market.
VPCL already works with Alphanim, Spargo plc, Bonton Ateliery and CPOINT Ent. in Europe, as well as companies in China, such as Motion Magic Digital Ent, Shanghai Cartoon and Bejing Zhihong.
VPCL hopes to announce soon its first distribution deal and a co-production agreement with a Chinese studio.
We feel there is an enormous opportunity to work in partnership with local Chinese studios and follow the same model as we built in Korea. It is an exciting time for us, said Rowland.
Village Prods. (www.village-productions.com) is an independent U.K. childrens producer specializing in all aspects of sound design and co-production focusing on international projects, such as ROCKETBOY & TORO, which it is co-producing with Imagestone Inc. in Korea and Cosgrove Hall Films for the BBC.
