Version2 and Liquid Light Join Forces

Version2 and Liquid Light have merged their respective editorial and visual effects & design departments for a more streamlined creative process. Version2, as the new company is known, will provide services to clients in the film, commercial and broadcast arenas. The company kicks off with a high-profile spot for Samsung, as well as campaigns for Top Flite, TD Waterhouse, Wild Aid PSA, Verizon, Puma and a redesign for Time Warner.

Restructuring goes against current business models, but we are creating a different model in response to clients and their needs, in particular to save money and increase speed and efficiency, explained Version2 owner/editor Vito DeSario. The agency benefits from being able to collaborate simultaneously between the known entity of Version2 offline talent and the established visual effects team led by Kieran Walsh at one time and under one roof. We are simplifying the commercial process for our clients.

In merging the two post businesses, the approval process and overall workflow get streamlined as ideas are freely shared between the companies. The integrated team works together simultaneously and seamlessly on projects. Sharing resources and in-house talent also allows Version2 to be more competitive as a full-service company.

We are embracing the concept of one company with two divisions, remarked Version2 managing director Linda Rafoss. We are taking down the wall between the two companies, which provides clients with more flexibility and interaction with our artists on projects. This business model encourages open communication and a very hands-on methodology.

The in-house talent of Version2 and the former Liquid Light is an integrated team consisting of DeSario, Rafoss, vp/exec producer of Version2 and vfx/design Frank Devlin, creative director of Version2 vfx/design Kieran Walsh and CGI director Jason Strougo.

The company continues to represent editors Tina Mintus, Dave Herman and Fred Jordan, vfx artist Mike McKenna and a team of After Effects artists. The vfx team won three 2004 BDA Awards for their work on THE SCIENTIST music video for COLDPLAY, the Show Open for NIGHTLINE and AFRICAN AMERICAN WEEK for PBS. Clients of Version2 are provided with a fully capable and developed visual effects division with cutting-edge technology, including Discreet inferno, flame, fire and smoke, Quantel Henry, Avid Softimage|XSI, Adobe After Effects and Alias Maya.

Version2 recently contributed its expertise to a visually compelling spot for Samsung via ad agency Foote, Cone & Belding/NY. Editor Tina Mintus and inferno artist Kieran Walsh worked closely on the DANCE spot, which began airing internationally in late August and will air in the U.S. at a later date. TD Waterhouse, Wild Aid PSA, Verizon and Puma are other campaigns that have experienced the Version2 touch. All are examples of how the company provided creative solutions for spots that were visual effects driven.
