Vee Pee Cartoons Helps Nick Showcase New Characters In Spots

Vee Pee Cartoons, the broadcast design and animation division of Virtual Persuasion located in Fairfield, Connecticut recently completed a series of "Quickie Nickies" interstitials for Nickelodeon. THE GREGORY AND PECK shorts feature a dim-witted bear, Gregory, and a wise-cracking rooster, Peck, airing in April as part of Nickelodeons Nick Toons line-up. These spots allow Nick to experiment with new and original characters, according to animation director John Siciliano. Vee Pee Cartoons is also working closely with Nickelodeon to develop on-air viral or animated bugs featuring some the networks most popular characters, which come to life and occupy the lower-third of the screen. Siciliano said his, "traditional animators do most of the work on paper. Then we scan it into Adobe Photoshop, where we ink and paint the artwork. Those files are then imported to Adobe After Effects and used to build the shots and set up most of the final animation. Once the comps are completed in After Effects, we output the movies to our DPS Velocity edit system where we lay them off to digital Beta tape for final delivery." Siciliano directed and produced the spots animated by Jon Paul Brower, Scott Martin, Robert Powers and Angelo Scalise. Juan Mendoza was production assistant and Victor Verhageheo provided the voices. Manny Galan was the creator/art director for Nick. Lisa Versaci was the Nick producer of the spots written by Jacke Fleisher and Todd Rosenberg.
