VANAS Launches Animation Program Advisory Committee

New committee of animation industry experts will ensure Vanas maintains leadership reputation.

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Animation School, a leading Canadian educational institution offering entry level and advanced programs for the animation, visual effects and video game industries, announced the launch of its program advisory committee (PAC). The new committee will be directly providing feedback to ensure that the school and curriculum remains cutting edge and applicable to the rapidly changing needs of the animation industry.

“We are very excited to have assembled this elite group of industry professionals to ensure that our students are prepared for a career in the animation and related industries,” said Mario Pochat, animator and founder of the Vancouver Animation School. “As the leading Canadian educational institution for skilled animation professionals, we want to ensure that we maintain what our reputation is based upon.”

New members of Vancouver Animation School PAC includes Cassandra Nelson from Prime Focus World; Raine Anderson from Pixar Canada and the Chief Executive Officer of Twenty One, Inc. Jericca Cleland.

Nelson brings to the new role an extensive career specializing in human resources and recruiting for the visual effects industry. Meanwhile, Anderson’s film credits include blockbuster movies such as Avatar, Rise of the Planet of Apes, The Adventures of Tintin and X-Men. Cleland, a former Pixar cinematographer, has film credits including Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Escape from Planet Earth, Arthur Christmas and more.

The PAC members will meet with Founder Mario Pochat on a regular basis and discuss topics such as the state of the industry; the needs for training and what positions in studios are needed the most.

Vancouver Animation School and its PAC members are committed to contributing to and nurturing the Vancouver’s vibrant animation, visual effects and video game industries.
