Vulture reports that Universal Pictures is courting Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY) to direct its adaptation of the Atari game ASTEROIDS. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON) is producing. Matt Lopez (RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN) penned the script. The story is set after aliens have destroyed Earth after posing as friends. Now the remaining humans live on an asteroid belt with other aliens, but must fight against the destroyers of their home world.
