Since Disney dropped the project, Joseph Kosinski's OBLIVION might be finding a new home at Universal, reports Deadline.com. Universal is in exclusive talks to pick up the project with October eyed to start production. Additionally, Tom Cruise is in discussions to star.

Set in a future where Earthlings live in the clouds after the surface becomes uninhabitable, the story follows a soldier on the surface who encounters a strange woman, who challenging his thoughts of the world. William Monahan adapted Kosinski's graphic novel on which the film is based. Karl Gajdusek penned a second draft.

The project left Disney because it didn't fit the studio's family friendly model.
