Ubisoft has signed a licensing agreement with DIC Ent. to create videogames based on the new TROLLZ, which features a stylish group of teen friends that grow up in a spectacular world of gnomes, ogres, dragons and magic. The exclusive, worldwide agreement includes interactive games based on the tween entertainment and lifestyle property for all existing game formats.
In fall 2005, DIC and partners will simultaneously roll out the unique TROLLZ merchandise and entertainment program that merges fashion, magic and high-tech communication. The videogames, which target the 6 to 12-year-old girl demographic, will incorporate all three elements. The fantasy universe of the TROLLZ will come to life and showcase the different magical talents, styles and personalities of the characters, as well as the friendship that binds them together. An initial game for handheld consoles is planned for late this year, with other formats to follow. Additionally, DIC will launch an online Web community in April 2005.
With this licensing deal, Ubisoft joins the list of companies such as Scholastic (publishing), Hasbro (toys), Warner Bros. (home entertainment) and One World Interactive (mobile) in investing in the revamped brands 2005 U.S. launch. The TROLLZ international debut is scheduled for 2006.
