TV Academy Announces 2016 Primetime Emmy Nominees

Nominations for Outstanding Animated Program are given to FX’s ‘Archer,’ Disney’s ‘Phineas and Ferb Last Day of Summer,’ Comedy Central’s ‘South Park’ and Fox TV’s’ Bob’s Burgers’ and ‘The Simpsons.’

The Television Academy announced nominees for the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards on Thursday morning, with nominations for Outstanding Animated Program going to FX’s Archer, Disney’s Phineas and Ferb Last Day of Summer, Comedy Central’s South Park and Fox TV’s Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons.

The nominees for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance are Seth MacFarlane for Family Guy, Trey Parker and Matt Stone for South Park, and Keegan-Michael Key and Chris Pine for Crackle’s SuperMansion.

Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls and Steven Universe each received nominations for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program.

On the visual effects side, Starz’ Black Sails, HBO’s Game of Thrones, Amazon Studios’ The Man in the High Castle, Showtime’s Penny Dreadful and HISTORY’s Vikings each received nominations for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. Nominations for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role were given to AMC’s Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead, Hulu’s 11.22.63, NBC’s Hannibal, and PBS/BBC co-production Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.
