Troy Sails Onto DVD

The summer blockbusters continue to roll out on DVD with Warner Home Videos release of TROY ($29.95) on Jan. 4, 2005. The Greek epic featured grand visual effects work from Artem Digital Ltd., Cine Image Film Opticals Ltd., Cinesite (Europe), Framestore CFC, Lola and The Moving Picture Co..

The film is an adaptation of Homers ILLIAD. Set in the year 1193 B.C., Paris (Orlando Bloom), a prince of Troy, woos Helen (Diane Kruger), Queen of Sparta, away from her husband, Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), setting the kingdoms of Mycenae Greece at war with Troy. Lead by the great warrior Achilles (Brad Pitt), the Greeks sail to Troy and lay siege. Meanwhile, Hector (Eric Bana), the eldest son of Priam (Peter OToole), King of Troy, tries to raise the hopes of his people.
