Tron to Screen at the El Cap

For 10 days, starting May 6, 2004, The El Capitan Theatre will screen an archival 70 mm print of Walt Disney Pictures' 1982 landmark computer animated feature, TRON, featuring six-track Dolby SR Stereo. As part of the salute, original costumes and memorabilia will be on display.

An opening night panel discussion will be moderated by Academy Award nominated visual effects artist/filmmaker Harrison Ellenshaw, and will include director Steven Lisberger, visual effects supervisor Richard Taylor and production designer/futurist Syd Mead. During the entire run, multi-player disc battles and Light Cycles with TRON 2.0 will be available to play, courtesy of Buena Vista Interactive. As part of the opening night activities, a live "TRON 2.0 Tournament" will be played on the big movie screen.

Commenting on the announcement, Lylle Breier, svp of worldwide special events for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, said, "We are thrilled to be bringing TRON back to the El Capitan for the first time in five years. This is a rare opportunity for fans of the film to see a 70 mm Dolby Stereo print projected on the big screen at Hollywood's premiere movie palace."

Tickets for the opening night event, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. on May 6, and for all shows during the regular engagement can be purchased at the El Capitan box office, online at www.elcapitantickets.com or by calling (800) DISNEY6. Daily showtimes (4/7-16) are noon, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
