Tripping the Rift Gets Hollywood Voices

Web short turned TV series TRIPPING THE RIFT has announced the Hollywood talent who have signed on to lend their voice to SCI FI Channel's first original animated TV series. Gina Gershon (BOUND), Stephen Root (NEWS RADIO) and "Stuttering" John Melendez (THE HOWARD STERN SHOW) head the ensemble cast. The half-hour 3D show is being produced by CinéGroupe, in association with Film Roman. The show is set to debut in January 2004.

Based on an award-winning webisode that debuted on Film Roman's Level13.net, the show is an irreverent and sexy spoof of the entire sci-fi genre. The story follows the adventures of The Free Enterprise, a smuggling vessel led by a stumpy purple alien named Chode, played by Root. Gershon will voice Six, a sexy cyborg, and Melendez will lend his vocals to Spaceship Bob, the fastest ship in the galaxy. The rest of the cast includes: Gus, (Maurice LaMarche, voice of "Brain" from PINKY & THE BRAIN), Chode's sexually-confused robot slave; T'Nuk, (Gayle Garfinkle, ENEMIES: A LOVE STORY) the ship's aesthetically-challenged pilot; and Whip, (Rick Jones, SAGWA, THE CHINESE SIAMESE CAT), Chode's teenaged slacker nephew.
