Jessica Chastain (THE TREE OF LIFE) is in talks to star in the Guillermo del Toro-produced supernatural thriller MAMA, reports Variety. The Universal film is based on Andres Muschietti's short film, which he expanded with writer Barbara Muschietti. Andres will direct and Barbara will produce the feature version.
The plot centers on two young girls who are haunted by a ghost they believe is their mother.
Gary Ungar and Brian Witten are the exec producers.
