Honkworm Warms Seat For New Creative Director

Honkworm International has named veteran producer Rhonda Moore as creative director. Moore will head the development and production of new Honkworm series and reviewing properties for potential acquisition. In 1994, Moore was part of the team that designed and implemented the multimedia site "Megadeath, Arizona" for the band Megadeath and Capital Records, as well as Web sites for the L.A. Dodgers, L.A. Kings and the House of Blues. In 1994, she also served as associate producer for the House of Blues Foundation's landmark Webcast of the star-studded "I Have A Dream Day" tribute to Dr.

Time Warner Releases Record 2nd Quarter Results

Time Warner Inc. has reported record operating results for the second quarter of 2000. Operating income before amortization of intangible assets (EBITA) grew 12% over the comparable 1999 quarter. With cable networks, publishing, filmed entertainment, and cable all posting record normalized operating results, Time Warner reported normalized EBITA of US$1.381 billion for 2000's second quarter versus $1.237 billion for the same period a year ago.

AtomFilms Signs Paramount, Forty & Shorty Deal

AtomFilms has signed a deal with Paramount Television Group, Paramount Digital Entertainment and Claude Brooks' C To The B Productions to produce a new Web series entitled FORTY AND SHORTY. The deal will see 26 initial 2-3 minute Webisodes, airing every Wednesday starting July 26, 2000. FORTY AND SHORTY chronicles two 13-year-old misfit friends, one black, one white, who live across the street from each other - one in the ghetto, the other in a trailer park. The show is created by Claude Brooks and Rick Gomez.

British Film Office Sends F/X Exec To LA

The British Film Office has appointed visual effects veteran Meg Guidon as their visual effects marketing executive. The newly created position was created to increase the visibility of U.K. F/X houses with U.S. production companies. The hope is to bring more high-profile work to the U.K. like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 and GLADIATOR, both of which were done in London. Guidon will be based out of the British Film Office at the Consulate General in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. Previously Guidon worked at some of the UK's leading visual effects firms including Cinesite and Mill Film.

The Ottawa 00 International Animation Festival has completed this year's pre-selection for the official competition. Once again, the festival set a record for entries, receiving 1,300 films from over 50 countries. To ease the pressure on the selection committee, this year's selection was divided into two committees. Festival organizers Chris Robinson and Hayden Mindell judged the Independent Film Competition (graduate films, first professional films, independent short works under 50 min. and films for children).

The 6th Cartoombria International Animation Festival will happen in Perugia, Italy, November 23-25, 2000. The artistic committee of the festival has put together a number of computer animation-related retrospectives, exhibits, workshops, screenings, premieres and artist tributes. This year, Cartoombria will focus on Web animation and video games. The festival will also profile European animation schools, and more specifically schools offering computer animation, new media and Web animation programs.

Animha Productions' Town Story

Animha Productions, a unique association of professionals dedicated to independent film production and animation workshops, presents its latest production: Old Boro Town - Our Town Story. The aim of the project was to provide a sequence of film as a backdrop for the performance of 'Our Town Story' to be held at England's Millennium Dome in October 2000. Through a series of children's workshops, a variety of subjects were brought to life through cut-out animation and a film was produced to the script of "Old Boro Town" - a folk song written by local children.
