At a ceremony in Mumbai presided over by Harshvardhan Patil, Minister of State for women and child development, Government of Maharashtra, Toonz opened the Toonz Animation Academy. The state-of-the-art training facility was cutting-edge infrastructure, industry standard workstations, an international staff and a wide-ranging global curriculum. Toonz Animation Academy plans to bring veteran animation professionals to conduct classes.
Patil said, "Toonz with an enviable record of growth across the globe in a short time span, there seems to be no scope for doubt about its ability to produce quality professionals for the industry and eventually contribute towards the advancement of our country. Toonz Academy is a steppingstone, giving direction and leading the upbringing of vast resources of artistic talents with sense. In view of the ample artistic talent in our country, such initiatives can be extremely helpful in directing them towards the right path."
Rama Prasad, exec director, Toonz Academy, said, "The Academy is on an expansion mode and the Mumbai facility is the first in a series of groundbreaking initiatives planned for the future. We are going to open centers in all the key cities of India. The launch of the Nagpur Academy is slotted next."
