Among the 37 cartoons showcased on Tom & Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 1, four are Academy Award® winners (Best Short Subject: Cartoons). Bonus material on the DVD includes an excerpt from the 1945 live action film Anchors Aweigh, in which Jerry performs a dance routine with the legendary Gene Kelly.

The original series is notable forhaving won the Academy Award® for Best Short Subject: Cartoon seven times.

Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 1 is intended for the adult collector and may not be suitable for children.
