TMNT Tops 300

The CG-animated debut of the Turtles halted 300's box office reign, as TMNT (animated by Imagi) delivered $24.2M in its debut for Warner Bros. for the period ended March 25, 2007. However, Warner Bros.' 300 still powered its way to second place with $19.8M. With vfx from Hybride, Animal Logic, Hydraulx, Scanline VFX, Buzz Images, Meteor Studios, WB Internal, Pixel Magic, Screaming Death Monkey and Lola Visual Effects, 300 now has accumulated $161.7M in three weeks.

Debuting in third place was Paramount's SHOOTER with $14.5M. Buena Vista's WILD HOGS slipped to fourth with $13.8M for a cume of $123.3M. New Line's THE LAST MIMZY bowed in fifth with $10M. Vfx was provided by The Orphanage, Rising Sun Pictures, Technicolor Toronto, EdenFX, Ameoba Proteus, Giant Killer Robots, Amalgamated Pixels, Tweak Films, FIDI FX and Digital Backlot. Debuting in sixth with $9.6M was THE HILLS HAVE EYES II from Fox Atomic. The seventh position belonged to Sony's PREMONITION, with $9.5M and a cume of $31.6M (with vfx from Gradient Effects). Two more newcomers, Sony's REIGN OVER ME and Lionsgate's PRIDE, debuted in eighth and ninth with $7.4M and $3.5M. Universal's DEAD SILENCE came in 10th with $3.4M and a cume of $13.2M (with vfx from Mr. X).

And in its sixth week, THE 2006 ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED SHORT FILMS, from Magnolia Pictures, added $1,825 on 4 screens for a total of $312,636. Box office information obtained from boxofficemojo.com.
