‘Tilly and Friends’ Goes Mobile with New iOS App

Daredevil Development and Walker Books announce the launch of the first ever Tilly and Friends iOS app, featuring over 30 mini-games based on the CBeebies series.

Games developer Daredevil Development and leading children’s book publisher Walker Books announced the launch of the first ever Tilly and Friends game app for iOS (iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad), in a partnership brokered by digital agency Peahen Games. The new game will be available from the app store from Wednesday 18th December, priced at £1.99, and is available worldwide in English.

Featuring the hugely popular characters created by leading children’s author Polly Dunbar, the app allows children to play along with Tilly, Pru, Tumpty, Doodle, Hector and Tiptoe in a fun series of 32 mini games. The wide range of games includes educational, creative, memory and action based activities designed to stimulate and entertain, whilst encouraging core developmental and educational skills including phonetics and numeracy. All within a safe, fun and playful environment.

The app features rich art and animation from the successful CBeebies TV series co-produced by Jam Media and Walker Productions, as well as the voice of Alex Kelly, who plays Tilly in the show. Tilly encourages and guides players through the app as they progress through three difficulty levels. The app also features self-levelling, automatically adapting to the skill level of the player and making games more challenging as the player learns. A randomised game picker ensures players benefit from the full range of the 32 games available and experience the balanced educational learning curve. Games include Find Tilly, Stop Tiptoe, Don’t Crash, Tumpty’s Box, Spell My Name, What’s Biggest, Simple Sums, Dressing Up, Balloon Pop, ABC, How Many Tiptoes, Big or Small, Making Pictures and many more.

The game will be featured in the Apple App Store in the Children’s 0-5 age category and contains no in-app purchases or data collection. In addition, parental gates exist to prevent inadvertent web access by the child when playing.

Daredevil Development have built a reputation for developing high quality children’s apps through their work on brands including Paddington Bear, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom, Bob the Builder, Postman Pat, Tinga Tinga Tales and Guess With Jess. Tilly and Friends marks their debut as publisher of a children’s book brand.

Daredevil Development Principal, David Mowbray commented, “We fell in love with the art style and storytelling of both the books and the TV series and it was a pleasure to bring Polly’s creations to the app game format.  There is a wealth of content and stories to explore. We could have easily made 64 games, such was the depth of the content we found.”

Anna Hewitt, Head of Licensing at Walker Books adds “One of our goals at Walker is to make sure we’re delivering our publishing content to new audiences in new ways and we have really enjoyed working with Daredevil on this project. We love the Tilly and Friends app, which captures all the vibrancy, imagination and magic of Tilly’s world while encouraging plenty of opportunity for interaction, play and learning.”

The app launch will be supported by a full PR campaign co-ordinated by Kilogram Media including reviews, competitions and free game giveaways.
