Threshold Entertainment, a multimedia and intellectual property management company, announced that Dimension Films has acquired the project DUKE NUKEM: THE MOVIE. The film will be produced by Larry Kasanoff (TRUE LIES, MORTAL KOMBAT) and Threshold Entertainment. Based on the US$1 billion gaming franchise by 3-D Realms, NUKEM follows the politically incorrect title character as he travels into space to intercept an alien ship on a collision course for Earth. "I'm extremely excited to bring this best-selling video game character to life through Dimension; they are an ideal partner to grow the brand," said Larry Kasanoff, chairman and CEO of Threshold Entertainment. "With two new and highly anticipated games coming out in the near future and an enormous fan base salivating for a feature film, DUKE NUKEM will definitely break box office records." Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of Dimension, said, "I am thrilled to bring this extremely successful video game to the big screen. This type of franchise, action film is the perfect fit for Dimension." The film currently does not have a release date, however it is pushing toward a PG-13 audience.
