The Hong Kong Trade Development Council has announced that three of Chinas major entertainment industry events will merge starting in March 2005. The three events include the Trade Development Council's (TDC) trade expo -- Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (Filmart), the Government's Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Hong Kong Film Awards organized by the industry.
Dr. Patrick Ho, Filmart secretary for home affairs, said, "The synergy so created will not only make a greater international impact but also attract wider community support and participation." Ho believed that it would provide a boost to the industry in view of the quota-free access granted to Chinese language films produced in Hong Kong and the relaxation of co-production requirements.
