THQ Releases New Monster House Videogame

THQ Inc. has released MONSTER HOUSE videogame for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS. The game is based on the recently released MONSTER HOUSE film by award-winning producers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, and director Gil Kenan. Many could be seen playing it at the recent Comic-Con International 2006.

"MONSTER HOUSE is a perfect property for the videogame space, with elements of action, suspense and combat that will resonate with young and older gamers alike as they immerse themselves into the eerie adventures encountered by the movie's heroes," said John Ardell, director, global brand management, THQ. "THQ is extremely pleased to be working with Columbia Pictures in bringing MONSTER HOUSE to the interactive space; we feel it is a great complement to our leading mass-market content portfolio."

"With its global publishing expertise, THQ has done a tremendous job of creating a game with exemplary visuals that capture both the look and feel of the film," said Mark Caplan, vp, interactive, Sony Pictures Consumer Products. "The MONSTER HOUSE videogame also extends the moviegoer's experience, offering players the ability to explore new sections of the house that were not featured in the film."

MONSTER HOUSE gameplayers will experience key moments of the movie as they explore the creepy house room by room. With three playable characters (voiced by the stars from the film), fans will take on unique adventures inspired by the movie. Players may use their upgradeable water blasters, as well as each character's unique weapon, to battle nightmarish creatures created from the house and its demented objects. In addition, the 2D arcade game, THOU ART DEAD, featured in the film, can be conquered by players in the videogame also.
