Director Thor Freudenthal will helm the big screen adaptation of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID from Fox 2000, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Via her Color Force banner, Nina Jacobson is producing the Jeff Kinney illustrated tales about the life of pre-teen Greg Heffley, a smart aleck who gets caught up in shenanigans at his school and with his family.
Kinney's characters started out as a Web comic before moving to print. Freudenthal recently finished up HOTEL FOR DOGS for Paramount, due out early next year and starring Emma Roberts. He will also direct Warner Bros.' young adult fantasy MEASLE AND THE WRATHMONK.
A new WIMPY book is due out next month.
