ABC and exec producer Robert Halmi Sr. have announced the international cast for its miniseries THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, reports the trades. Dougray Scott, Omar Sharif, Naveen Andrews, Mia Maestro and Linus Roache will headline the big-budget, four-hour telling of classic biblical tale of Moses. Ron Hutchinson (THE JOSEPHINE BAKER STORY) wrote the screenplay and Robert Dornhelm (TVs SPARTACUS) is directing.
Hallmark Ent. will produce the more than $20 million film, which is schedule to start filming May 23 in Ouarzazate, Morocco. The first part will hits TV screens next season.
Scott, who worked with ABC and Halmi on ARABIAN NIGHTS, will play Moses. Oscar-nominated Sharif (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA) will portray Jethro. LOST co-star Andrews will play Menerith with Roache (THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK) as Aaron and Maestro (ALIAS) as Zipporah.
