Sony has put in a bid to the Halcyon Group for the TERMINATOR franchise, reports VARIETY. In January, Lionsgate placed a bid of $15 million for future rights and 5% of future gross receipts. As the first bidder, if they lose, Lionsgate will earn $750,000 from the winner.

The rights went up for sale in September and an official auction will be held on Monday in Los Angeles. Halcyon Group will then go into a bankruptcy court hearing on Wednesday.

Halcyon acquired the TERMINATOR rights from Mario Kassar for $30 million in 2007. At the time of its bankruptcy filing, Halcyon valued the franchise at $70 million.
