Solange, teamed with Destiny's Child and Baha Men, has agreed to record theme songs for Disney Channel's two upcoming animated series, THE PROUD FAMILY and STANLEY. Gary Marsh, executive vice president, original programming, Disney Channel, said, "Great music, performed by uniquely talented artists and integrally linked to our award-winning original programming, is a key component of our programming strategy. Nothing better exemplifies the direction our network is headed with music than bringing Solange with Destiny's Child and Baha Men into our family to record original theme songs for THE PROUD FAMILY and STANLEY." Solange joins Destiny's Child to sing the theme song to Disney Channel's first animated series for kids and tweens, THE PROUD FAMILY. The Baha Men will record the STANLEY theme song, written by Peter Lurye. THE PROUD FAMILY follows the adventures of Penny Proud, a 14-year-old African American girl who tries to balance her home, school and social lives. STANLEY, based on characters from the popular STANLEY children's book series by Griff, follows the adventures of six-year-old Stanley Griff, an imaginative and creative little boy who is wild about animals. Both shows will premiere in September 2001.
