On Sunday, Oct. 9, Tunisian police arrested around 50 Islamist protestors who threatened to fire bomb Nessma TV offices after they aired the animated feature PERSEPOLIS, report Variety. The protestors believe that Vincent Paronnaud and Marjane Satrapi's film insults Islam via its depiction of the authoritarian government following the 1979 revolution against the shah. The total number of protestors was upwards of 300, but many where turned away by police.

Tunisia's Islamic party Al-Nahada condemned the violent protestors and has supported Nessma TV's freedom to air the film.
