Moonscoop Sells French Animated Series to Cartoon Network U.S.

Paris-based Moonscoop, the newly combined distributor for Antefilms Prods. and France Animation, has sold its first series, CODE LYOKO, to a U.S. broadcaster. Cartoon Network has acquired 26 episodes of the animated series that blends traditional 2D and 3D animation, which will be a part of the network's new Miguzi weekday afternoon franchise that launches on April 19, 2004.

CODE LYOKO features the adventures of a group of students who are the only ones to know that there is a parallel universe, a virtual world. They must fight against what normal people can't see and travel further than anybody has ever imagined. Their mission is to save the planet, but only after school. The series is produced by Antefilms Studio. Cartoon Network will air the new series at 5:30 pm.

AnteFilms sold its first series to the U.S. in 2003, airing FUNKY COPS on FOX BOX.

Benoît di Sabatino, co-ceo of Antefilms, will oversee the Moonscoop launch at MIP-TV. France Animation’s Lionel Marty has been appointed head of distribution, responsible for all French- and German-speaking territories, Italy, Spain, U.K., North America and Asia. Sales manager Marie Conge oversees South America, Scandinavia, Benelux, Greece, Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Antefilms Prod., launched in 1990 by Christophe di Sabatino and Benoît di Sabatino, has rapidly become one of France’s best known producers in international markets, notably for its highly successful series FUNKY COPS. It also owns Antefilms Studio, its own 3D animation and motion capture studio, located at the Pôle Images in Angoulême (southwestern France) and is in production on CODE LYOKO, FUNKY COPS II, PET ALIEN and INVISIBLE MAN.
